Mun plays catchup

His glass is all reflective mirrors and glass.

So everywhere he looks he sees a reflection. He just never pays attention to it.
"I don't care what you can't do. You only give me results! You only tell me what you can do! Are we clear?!"

In the midst of the terrified response on the other end of the line he happens to catch himself twisted in a mirrior.
Literally twisted.
His eyes, normally so quiet and intelligent are filled with rage. His face is a Kabuki monster mask.
He drops the phone in shock.

To the background tune of "Hello? Dr. Merrick? Dr. Merrick?" he goes to one of the bookcases and lifts a volume from the case.

Within is the first day of the institute's operation. He's standing next to Susan Vandrew, Emerson Walcott, Shelley Drake, Brent Hommer. The heads of his departments.

Susan drinks and beats her children. Emerson killed himself-he was replaced by Henry Steel. Shelley and Brent were caught trying to play hide the salami in the medlab.

Lives so full of purpose now ruined.
He looks back in the mirror and the Kabuki mask is gone, the murderous look in his eyes is replaced with something dead. Something violent but calm. Calculating.

And he sees the Kabuki Monster mask only its real. Coiled within. Waiting to spring.
He looks in the mirror and sees himself.

A monster. Waiting to spring.

Back at home.

Merrick's amazed to find out that he's once again dressed in his normal clothes. And he's no longer talking like some idiotic backwoods hick. He's once again immaculately groomed and sporting his glasses (he hadn't even noticed they were missing).

So he didn't have a lesson to learn. Perfect.

He scans his messages, no calls-no reports from Whitmore and/or anyone else.

Despite the acrid taste of beer on his tongue he's in the mood for more relaxation. He grabs a few forms for Mary Anne (Since she said that she was interested) and makes a note to leave them at the bar for her. He debates getting a halloween costume and makes the following decisions.

One.: He's already been put through this so it won't do it again.
Two.: It would be difficult to come up with a halloween costume below ground anyway.

He readies his preperations for a return to Milliways, after double-checking everything here at home.

Gandu was mentally listening to a theme from a television show that he shouldn't have remembered. (Bum, Bum Bum Bum-Bum bum! Bum bum ba da da dummmm...) as he straightened his tie and-

BLEEP

Waking up before you know it... He eyed the green clock with distain as he showered and dressed, heading down to breakfast.

He saw Jones off in the corner of the cafeteria and waved, "Jones!" He waved, ignoring the glares from the censors, "Hey! Jones!"

Jones-don't feel obligated to respond ot this, I promised and I delivered <3. One way or another. x3

I'll get back to TM. I promise..

Merrick had caught the first Heathrow Red-Eye out. He didn't sleep (He absolutely detested planes. They were a nessescity he felt he could afford to live without) But the CEO of Alto Airlines had a...insurance policy at his Tokyo-2 Facility. As a courtesy (despite the dirty look sfrom the flightcrew) he got to fly free whereever he wanted.

It was almost a relief to be back underground. To be back in a place where he was in control. He didn't truck with...physical science. It was the warm bodies that sat in those seats that concerned him, and he thought he'd almost managed to sell one of his seatmates in first class on it...

People wear out The Captain had to have been in her late forties, but she looked like she was in her sixties. I prevent them from wearing out.

He needed sleep. A Bath. Something decent to eat (The food on the plane hadn't been fit for human consumption) Damn spur of the moment scientific symposiums and...
As he strode down main hallway one he chuckled to himself and wondered if he should have brought up that strange place that he'd...been to recently. The very nature of the place was suspect-and Merrick suspected that it was one fo those instances where he'd imagined it.

Yes. He had to have imagined it.
He put two fingers to his temples, trying to assauge the current headache with thoughts of home and that this was the place he was supposed to be. Nothing could go wrong here.

Nothing at all.

Merrick wanted everything to be perfect.

While he'd checked (and doublechecked) the records-unable to find anything that named this mysterious "Janus" a clone he had a feeling that the man would be nearly as fastidious as he was. So he'd set his ducks carefully in a row, avoiding the community floor at all costs (making that the last possible stop) and made sure that everyone who had today off cancelled it, just in case he should want to ask any questions of any members of his staff.

Unsure of what this man might prefer for lunch (if he even stayed that long) Merrick had the cafeteria prepare some of his favorites, including that English Port his daughter had brought him. Smiling to himself Merrick sat back in his office chair, on call-waiting to be alerted to the man's arrival. After a few moments he frowned, cleared off his computer desk, and began working on some miscellenious clone paperwork.

He could at least stay busy...

In medieval Europe, dragons were considered mostly evil and a generally bad omen. Christianity linked the dragon with Satan because of the dragon's snake-like appearance. However, to the Orient cultures the dragon was a symbol of wisdom and royalty. It was a benign animal and the fifth creature of the Chinese zodiac. It resided over the east and the sunrise. It was also said to bring rain and the springtime. The dragon is interesting because it combines all four elements: air, earth, fire, and water. It could fly, had the horns of a ox, breathed fire, and resided over the moon.

What is the best present you have ever given someone else?

-laughs-

Would you like the egotistical version or some trite dyed-in-the-wool answer?

No. You want me to be Honest.

I gave life.
Life to Six-Echo, Life to Two-Delta. Life to the thousands, the millions that I created. I made them, built them, fed and raised them. They are, in essence, my children.

Not only did I give life to them. I give life to people on a regular basis. If you have an Agnate grown within our facility then its life given to you. Another sixty or seventy years, surpassing Uncle Albert, or Great Aunt Lil who died peacefully in her bed at the ripe age of one hundred.

I give life. To you and to others.
I'm god, it's what I do.

Current Mood: complacent complacent
